In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Anglers are catching all the Sea Mullet they want on the south beaches. A few Bluefish and Pompano are also beached. Big Drum were caught at the Cape after dark and many Puppy Drum as well. On the north beach’s there were a few Puppy Drum, Sea Mullet is plentiful and Trout. I have a picture this morning of a Bonefish. I was told it is a rare catch for this area. I tried to find some info but got nothing.

The winds are SE at 12 and the water temp is 65 degrees. Overcast, windy, rough ocean.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported good Trout fishing.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Striper, Puppy Drum and Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Blues Spanish and Trout.
Jennette’s: Bluefish, flounder, Sea Mullet and Spanish.
Outer Banks: Good numbers of Bluefish and 1 Spanish.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Inshore boats caught Cobia, Bluefish, Flounder and Stripers.

Offshore Boats Report:
The Fleet filled their boxes with Yellowfin, Blackfin, some Dolphin and a few Big-eye.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Lots of Sea Mullet on all the beaches. Bluefish and Puppy Drum at the point. Overall surf fishing was slow.

The winds are N at 12 and the water temp is 63 degrees. Cloudy, chilly morning, rough Ocean.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported keeper Trout at day break and some Spot.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Small Trout.
Nags Head: Small Trout.
Jennette’s: Puppy Drum, Blues and Sea Mullet.
Outer Banks: Keeper Puppy Drum, lots of Sea Mullet, 16 oz Flounder and Spot.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Near shore had catches of Spanish, Blues, Spanish mackerel, Albacore, Drum and a 75 lb Shark. Inshore decked Striper and Red Drum. There were also some flags flying.

Offshore Boats Report:
The fleet limited out with Dolphin, plenty of Yellowfin, one 75 pounder, and Big-eye.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
It was a beautiful day on the beach but fishing was a little slow. Sea Mullet and Bluefish reported along the beaches and Frisco had some Sheepshead. There were Spanish, some over the slot Drum and Bluefish at the Cape. There were a few keeper Drum at Oregon inlet and a few Scattered Trout, Sea Mullet and Bluefish on our beaches.
The wind is W at 12 and the water temp is 60 degrees. Light winds, flat water, muddy close to shore, overcast.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout and Spot.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Bluefish.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet, Sand Perch, Burrfish, Puffers and Skate.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet and Trout.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore boats from Pirates Cove had a great day catching Spanish, Bluefish, Cobia and Amberjack. Oregon Inlet Inshore boats also caught Cobia, Puppy Drum, Sea Mullet and Flounder.

Offshore Boats Report:
The bluewater charters limited out on Dolphin, caught Yellowfin, Blackfin and some Big-eye. Also some Billfish releases.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
There were Sea Mullet, Bluefish, Spanish and Sheepshead reported along the south beaches with some over the slot Puppies at the point. North of the bridge there were Sea Mullet, small Bluefish and small Trout. Joe White was fishing ramp 4 and the fish he caught was anything but small. He caught 6 keeper size Drum and one big Bluefish.
The winds are SW at 17 and the water temp is 59 degrees. Waters flat and clear, overcast, windy.

Sound Fishing Report:
The anglers fishing the Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported few Trout, Stripers, Black Drum, and Spot.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Trout and Bluefish.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet, Sand Perch and Pigfish.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet, Bluefish and Trout.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Inshore anglers had good catches of Cobia and Sea Mullet. Pirates Cove Marina reported one boat fishing nearshore caught 7 Cobia and released 3. The headboat caught good numbers of Sea Mullet, Croakers, Pigs and Pins.

Offshore Boats Report:
The fleet brought home limits of Yellowfin again yesterday and a few Dolphin. There were also some mammoth size Big-eye caught weighing up to 133 lbs.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
From the Frisco beaches there were Pompano, Sea Mullet and an 8 lb Sheepshead. The Buxton area reported Bluefish on lures, small Stripers, Sea Mullet, Flounder, and over the slot Drum. The big news on this side of the bridge was Mark Gwaltney’s 38 in Striper caught in KDH. We also had Blues, Sea Mullet and Trout.

We have SW winds at 9 and the water temp is 61 degree. Sunny, light wind and calm surf.

The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported good Trout fishing and Stripers.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Early morning Bluefish.
Nags Head: Blues, Sea Mullet and Trout.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet.
Outer Banks: Bluefish, Sea Mullet, Trout and Skates.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore and inshore caught Drum, Cobia, Bluefish, Flounder, Croakers, and Pigs.

Offshore Boats Report:
Bluewater charters returned with Yellowfin, Mahi, and a couple of Big-eyes. Also a Blue Marlin release.

Surf Fishing Report:
There was a 70 lb Cobia caught at the Point. A Cobia caught from the surf is always exciting news and so is a Bluefish Blitz and the point had one late afternoon. There were Sea Mullet along the beaches. North of the bridge there were Bluefish and Sea Mullet scattered along the beaches.

The winds are SW at 8 and the water temp is 62 degrees. Sunny, mild winds and small surf.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported a little slow but catching some Black Drum, Stripers and a few keeper Trout.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Bluefish.
Nags Head: Blues and Trout.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet and nice size Bluefish.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet and Bluefish.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Inshore charters reported good Speckle Trout, some keeper Flounder, lots of sound Stripers and Puppy Drum. Cobia were caught nearshore. Miss Oregon Inlet anglers enjoyed catching Sea Mullet, Croaker, Flounder and Pigs.

Offshore Boats Report:
The boats caught an abundance of Yellowfin, Dolphin and some Blackfin. An 87 lb citation Yellowfin was also caught. There was a White and Blue Marlin released as well.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Sea Mullet and Bluefish were scattered along all the beaches. There were a few big Blues caught at the point and the Jetties. The point also reported one 28 in Drum.

The SW wind is at 6 and the water temp is 62 degrees. Pleasant winds, flat water and sunny.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Stripers, Black Drum and a few keeper Trout.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Blues, Trout, nice Sea Mullet and big spiny Puffers.
Nags Head: Bluefish, Trout and Sea Mullet.
Jennette’s: Bluefish, Sea Mullet, Sand Perch and Burr fish.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet and Bluefish with “gotchas”.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Spanish and Bluefish have been caught the last several days.

Offshore Boats Report:
All charters caught loads of Dolphin yesterday with some boats limiting out. There were good numbers of Yellowfin, some Blackfin and a Blue Marlin released.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
There were Drum caught at the Cape and a 33 in Bluefish. There was some Sea Mullet along the beaches with some citations plus Bluefish. Sea Mullet were caught also on the north beaches. There should be some bottom fish and Blues caught today on our beaches.
The N wind is at 17 and the water temp is 59 degrees. Partly cloudy, windy and sloppy wind swell.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout, Stripers, Black Drum and some Spot.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet, Bluefish and small Trout.
Nags Head: Bluefish and small Trout.
Jennette’s: Bluefish, Specks and Gray Trout.
Outer Banks: Bluefish, Sea Mullet, small Flounder and a 14 in Trout.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
One Cobia reported. Plenty of Stripers in the sound.

Offshore Boats Report:
A couple of boats sailed yesterday from Pirates Cove and reported good Dolphin, Big-eye and plenty of Yellowfin.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Happy Mother’s day everyone.
There are still some big Bluefish on the south side of the point. Large Sea Mullet on all the south beaches with Puppy Drum as well.  Sea Mullet north of Oregon Inlet.
The NW wind is at 9 and the water temp is 60 degrees. Pleasant wind, clean waves and sunny.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout, Stripers and some bottom fish.

Pier Fishing Report:
The Sea Mullet action was great yesterday for the piers. One person fishing OBX caught 100. It has started out slow today. It’s early.
Avalon: Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Slow.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet, Sand Perch and Gray Trout.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
No report

Offshore Boats Report:
The boats stayed tied to the docks.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Despite it being a soggy day fishing was fair for those that ventured out. Good catches of Sea Mullet from ramp 38 through 49. Puppy Drum and Red Drum were caught at the point early morning and late afternoon.
I am receiving pictures without the information needed for the web site. When you send a picture, please state the name of the person that caught the fish. Your cell phone address and e-mail address does not always give a clear name. It is always nice to know where you caught the fish and any other info you might share with the readers. I have received a lot of pictures this spring and the season has hardly started yet. I love getting pictures so keep em coming.
The W wind is at 9 and the water temp is 61 degrees. Cloudy, large messy waves, light winds. A beautiful week ahead.
