In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Thursday was an extremely muggy hot day. The weekend doesn’t look to bad with some showers tomorrow and we may have a wind switch on Sunday. I am so ready.
A few Bluefish were caught yesterday in the afternoon. Fishing is slow.

The winds are SW at 12 and the water temp is 62 degrees. Cloudy, humid, small swells.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported small Trout, Flounder and Stripers.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: A few Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Bluefish.
Jennette’s: Bluefish, small Flounder and Croaker.
Outer Banks: Nothing coming over the rail.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
A good day for nearshore with Tilefish, Amberjack, Spanish and some Dolphin were in close. A slow day for inshore catching a few Sea Mullet and Croakers.

Offshore Boats Report:
Awesome catches of Yellowfin and some Mahi. There was a Billfish grand slam which consists of a Blue Marlin, White Marlin and a Sailfish.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
A few Sea Mullet, Trout along the beaches with Drum reported in S. Nags Head.
The surf fishing report for the summer will only include the north beaches from ramp 4 just north of the bridge to Carova. If something out of the ordinary happens on Hatteras Island I will let you know.

The winds are W at 12 and the water temp is 61 degrees. Mostly cloudy, light winds, the ocean is flat, murky water.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported lots of small Trout this morning, small Drum and Flounder.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Mullet.
Nags Head: Trout.
Jennette’s: Keeper Sea Mullet, small Bluefish, Flounder and Croaker.
Outer Banks: Skates and Crabs.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
The trolling boats had good catches of Spanish. Inshore anglers caught some Sea Mullet, Croakers and Flounder.

Offshore Boats Report:
The offshore fleet brought good numbers of Yellowfin back to the docks and some Dolphin.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
We are having some wretched weather. It rained off and on all day Tuesday and then it set in for the night. It is pretty much the same today. Despite the showers the beach strollers are out this morning and anglers are on the beach surf fishing. The Fritz Boyden Memorial Youth fishing Tournament is happening on all the piers as I speak and they are catching. Yesterday there were some Puppy Drum reported in Nags Head surf and Sea Mullet scattered.

The winds are SW at 14 and the water temp is 62 degrees. Rain showers, murky Ocean, small swells, windy.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported some Flounder, Trout and good amount of Spot.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Spot and Puppy Drum. There are 59 kids fishing the Avalon Pier this morning.
Nags Head: No report.
Jennette’s: Spade fish, Speckle Trout, Spot, Sea Mullet, and Flounder.
Outer Banks: Puppy Drum and Croakers.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Inshore reported a few sound Trout and Stripers.

Offshore Boats Report:
The bluewater fleet returned to the docks with an abundance of Yellowfin, a few Dolphin, some Wahoo and Bigeye.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Not much to tell this morning. Ramp 38 had some Sea Mullet. Some Sea Mullet scattered on the north beaches.

The winds are SW at 9 and the water temp is 62 degrees. Thunder storms, light winds, small swell, muddy Ocean.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported a few Trout and bottom fish. Overall slow.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Slow. Raining at this end of the beach this morning.
Nags Head: Slow.
Jennette’s: Sand Perch, Sea Mullet, Croaker and Pinfish.
Outer Banks: Croaker, Mullet, several Spot and a keeper Puppy.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore boats caught Bluefish and Spanish. Inshore decked Flounder, Trout, Bluefish, Sea Mullet, and plenty Drum catches.

Offshore Boats Report:
The fish of the day were Yellowfin again with some trophy citations caught. Multiple boats also released Billfish.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
The SW wind is keeping the fishing news at a minimum. A few Sea Mullet and Puppy Drum were reported in Buxton and a few Puppy Drum in S. Nags Head. More of the same today, same conditions.

The winds are SW at 14 and the water temp is 63 degrees. Hot and humid, small swell, murky water, windy.

Sound Fishing Report:
The anglers fishing the Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway caught Trout all weekend but very few keepers. A few Stripers, Spot, Croaker and Puppy Drum were reported but not in great numbers.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: 1 keeper Flounder, Trout, Drum and Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Few Blues.
Jennette’s: Burr fish and Croaker.
Outer Banks: Croaker, Spot and Puffer.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Inshore boats had catches of Trout, Stripers, and Puppy Drum.

Offshore Boats Report:
Another good day of Yellowfin catches and a few Dolphin added to the mix.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
There were some Spanish caught at Cape Point along with Shark and Sea Mullet. Ramp 38 had some big Sea Mullet. There were some Bluefish, Trout and Sea Mullet north of the Inlet.

The winds are SW at 12 and the water temp is 65 degrees. Soggy day, windy, clean swell.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported slow, heavy rains this morning.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet and Puppy Drum.
Nags Head: Slow.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet, Puppy Drum, Bluefish and Flounder.
Outer Banks: a few Sea Mullet.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore caught Amberjack, King Mackerel and some Dolphin. Inshore open boats decking Stripers, Drum, Flounder and Trout.

Offshore Boats Report:
The offshore boats had another day filling their fish boxes with Yellowfin Tuna. They also caught a good number of Bigeye.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Fishing was again slow from the surf yesterday. Most of the beaches had Sea Mullet. Frisco added Pompano and Cape Point caught lots of Sharks again with some Flounder. The beaches north of Oregon Inlet also caught Sea Mullet.
If you missed the TW’s annual tent sale yesterday, you can still catch it today.

The winds are S at 8 and the water temp is 70 degrees. Overcast, light winds and clean surfing waves.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway is having a slow morning. Only some small Trout so far. Some nice Sheepshead were caught from the Pirates Cove Bridge on the causeway and Oregon Inlet Bridge. Matt and Christina Whitt fished both bridges and caught some whoppers.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Spanish, Blues and throw back Cobia.
Nags Head: Spanish and Blues.
Jennette’s: Spanish and Blues.
Outer Banks: Spanish, Blues, Sea Mullet and a keeper Puppy Drum.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
The boats trolling along the beaches had some good reel action catching Spanish. Inshore caught Trout, Blues and Flounder.

Offshore Boats Report:
The charters have been filling their boxes with Yellowfins and Dolphin everyday this week. Also some good size Bigeye.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Surf fishing continues to be slow. A few sharks were reported at the point and Frisco beach had Sea Mullet. On this side of the bridge there were Skate, Puppy Drum, Trout and Sea Mullet.
A reminder, the big annual tent sale is going in our Nags Head parking lot as I speak.

The winds are SE at 6 and the water temp is 74 degrees. Cloudy, calm winds. Clear water, choppy surf.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported good bottom fishing catching Spot, Black Drum, Puppy Drum some Trout and Stripers.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet, Trout, Cobia and Bluefish.
Nags Head: Spanish and Bluefish.
Jennette’s: Triggerfish, Spanish, Spadefish and a 16 in Flounder.
Outer Banks: Spanish, Blues, Trout, Sea Mullet

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore anglers caught a slew of Spanish, some Bluefish, Amberjacks, Triggerfish, and Shark. Trout fishing was good for inshore boaters. With some boaters limiting out. Also Flounder, Sea Mullet and Triggers. Miss Oregon Inlet headboat had good catches of Trout, Sea Mullet, Flounder, Sea Bass, Croaker, Pins and Pigs.

Offshore Boats Report:
Another day of good Tuna and Dolphin action with some Sharks. There were some very large Bigeye and Blue Marlin releases as well.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
There were some Spanish and Bluefish reported at the Cape. Frisco Beaches reported Sea Mullet and down on the Hatteras beaches Spanish, Sea Mullet and 2 Cobia. There were Puppy Drum caught on lures in S. Nags Head and some Sea Mullet scattered.

The winds are N at 6 and the water temp is 66 degrees. Cloudy, light winds. We finally have some wave action this morning, water should start clearing and fishing should improve.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported slower than usual with a few Trout, one 21 in and some Drum.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet, Bluefish, Flounder, Puppy Drum and Trout.
Nags Head: Bluefish and Trout.
Jennette’s: No report.
Outer Banks: Bluefish and Sea Mullet.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Spanish and Bluefish caught nearshore. Flounder, Sea Mullet, and Croaker in the Inlet and Stripers, Trout and Flounder in the sound.

Offshore Boats Report:
It has been a good week for the bluewater anglers. Great numbers of Mahi, plenty Yellowfin, some Bigeye. Also White and Blue Marlin releases.

Surf Fishing Report:
Sea Mullet is still the fish to catch. Really slow over all.
The winds are SW at 13 and the water temp is 63 degrees.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout and bottom fish.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Flounder, Sea Mullet and Trout.
Nags Head: Bluefish, Mullet and Triggers
Jennette’s: Speckle Trout and Croakers
Outer Banks: Stripers, sea Mullet and Bluefish.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore caught Spanish, Trout and Drum. Inshore Flounder, Speckle Trout and Puppy Drum.

Offshore Boats Report:
It was a great day on the water for the offshore fleet. A good Yellowfin bite with some citations, the same with Mahi. Big-eye Tuna weighing up to 148 lbs. And grand slam bill fish. Sailfish, Blue Marlin and White Marlin.
