In Summary:

Fishing Report:
It was a cool weekend and we are looking ahead at several days of rain. The fishing is improving with the water temp on the rise in the sound and the Ocean.
The big Bluefish arrived and were caught from Avon to Hatteras. There have been Puppy Drum, Sea Mullet and always plenty puffers. Some keeper Flounder have been reported caught at ramp 43 and the jetties. Erin White caught a 20 in Black Drum at Oregon Inlet.
Denny Reed beached Puffers in the Sanderling surf and Erin caught them at Oregon  Inlet as well.
The Little Bridge caught Shad, Stripers, and a 20 in Trout was caught.
The piers are slow with some Shad, Blowtoads, Stripers, Skate reported.
The inshore boats are catching a few Stripers. Durand Beasley caught a nice size Drum in Hatteras.
The charters had a good day returning to the docks with plenty Yellowfin, Mahi, Blackfin and some Wahoo. There were also Shark releases. Pirates Cove caught their 1st Blue Marlin of the season.

The winds are E at 14 and the water temp is 53 degrees. Sunny, nice day, clear ocean, small chop.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
Big Bluefish were still biting at the Cape with some Blow toads and Sea Mullet. Some Drum were caught at daylight. Further south Frisco and Hatteras beaches also reported Sea Mullet, Blowtoads and nice size Bluefish.
The text I got from Linda Harper told me it was a bit nippy on the beach yesterday.

The Little Bridge anglers are catching Stripers.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Shad today, Trout and Puppy Drum Saturday.
Nags Head: Mullet and Shad.
Jennette’s: Caught Puffers, Sea Mullet, Gray Trout, Spot and Sand Perch Yesterday.
Outer Banks: Blowtoads, Sea Mullet and Shad.

Most of the fleet was out yesterday and was well rewarded. They limited out on Yellowfin, some Blackfin and Mahi. There was a 71 lb citation Yellowfin and a citation Sailfish release.

The winds are E at 2 and the water temp is 52 degrees. Sunny, flat Ocean, highs/50, breezy.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
It was a good Bluefish bite at the point and some Puppy Drum at the old lighthouse.
Robert Selph caught a 27 in Drum in Southern Shores. Derek Wilson sent word there are plenty skate in Duck surf.
The offshore fleet stayed tied to the docks.
The piers are slow especially with the winter temperatures we are having every morning.

The winds are N at 7 and the water temp is 51 degrees. Sunny, chilly morning, small swells, calm winds.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
It is a beautiful day on this sandbar. I am a happy person. The water temperature has finally hit 50 degrees. It is another windy day and a problem for the anglers but fisherable.
There were a few scattered Sea mullet reported in Nags head and a 31 in Drum caught south of the OBX Pier. Also Jonathon Edgar caught a 27 in Drum south of the Kitty Hawk Pier.
The Point reported big Bluefish along with some Red Drum. Avon and Buxton beaches caught some Blowtoads and Sea Mullet.
The Little Bridge catching plenty Shad and a Bluefish yesterday.
Jim Trost sent news it was a good Striper day in the Nags Head sound.
The Piers are slow this morning. OBX caught loads of shad yesterday on artificial lures, some Sea Mullet and Croakers. Avalon caught four 18-20 in Specks yesterday. Can’t keep em, but fun to catch.
The fleet did not venture out again due to the windy conditions.

The winds are NW at 14 and the water temp is 50 degrees. Sunny, chilly morning, sweeping north swell, windy.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
The wind was still gusting 30 yesterday and the water temperature is still hanging below 50 degrees.
The fishing news is improving. The Cape had Puppy Drum and Bluefish and there were also few Sheepshead and Spot. Avon had Puppy Drum as well. There were some Blow Toads and Sea Mullet at ramp 48 and 49. The good news is an 18 in Trout was caught from Avalon surf yesterday. Couldn’t keep it but its still good news.
The Little Bridge is catching Stripers and there have been small Trout and undersize Puppy Drum reported there this week.
OBX Pier had a great day yesterday catching Sea Mullet all day. Buckets full. Also reported Croakers, Spot and Blow Toads.
Avalon also had a good day catching Puffers and Sea Mullet. Today some mullet, Shad and Skate.
Jennette’s Pier caught the same, but catching Skate this morning.
Nags Head Pier is slow. They are still working on the pier.
Offshore had a good day catching Yellowfin with some Wahoo Reported.

The winds are SW at 17 and the water temp is 48 degrees. Partly cloudy, nice day, flat Ocean, breezy.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
It was a biting wind all day yesterday but the temp did reach 60 degrees later in the day.
Buxton beaches reported a few Blow Toads, Black Drum, Sea Mullet and a citation Red Drum. There was a Black Tip Shark estimated at 140 lbs caught at the point.
Jennette’s Pier has caught some early morning Skate.
OBX Pier caught many skate and 1 Sea Mullet yesterday.
Avalon Pier is slow.

The winds are NE at 11 and the water temp is 47 degrees. Sunny, nice day, highs in the lower 60s, sloppy surf.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
The wind kept fishing pretty much at a standstill for most of the day. There were Drum caught early morning at the point.
The fleet stayed in the creek.
A few small Stripers reported caught from the Little Bridge.
OBX Pier had a good Sea Mullet bite doing the day. Only 2 anglers fishing and they caught 17 mullet.

The winds are NW at 20 and the water temp is 46 degrees. Sunny, chilly morning, sloppy side swell, windy.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
The last several days the wind increase significant as the day went but today we have it right up front. We have gusting winds 34.0 kts this morning. It is one of those days I have to turn all the chairs over on the deck.
A few Puppy Drum and Sea Mullet were reported in Buxton. Sea Mullet and Black Drum in the Frisco area. Andrew Deyoung caught a 18.5# Blackfin Tuna.

The winds are SW at 22 and the water temp is 49 degrees. Partly cloudy, showers, windy, large swells.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
There was a good Red Drum bite at the Cape with one citation measuring 46 in. There were Puppy Drum scattered from the Old Lighthouse site to the Hatteras beaches. Frisco beaches also reported Puffers and Sea Mullet.
It was another good day for the off-shore boats limiting out with Yellowfin Tuna and catching some Wahoo.
A few Stripers have been caught in the Roanoke sound.
The Little Bridge anglers reported plenty of no keeper Stripers and Shad.
Jennette’s Pier caught Sea Mullet, Shad and Puffers.
OBX Pier has caught Shad, Skates and Sharks.

The winds are S at 11 and the water temp is 47 degrees. Sunny, breezy, calm Ocean.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
To start the day with the air temperature 61 degrees is a real treat this morning. Now if the water would just warm up a few degrees…..
The Hatteras beaches had a few Puppy Drum. South of the point also had Puppy Drum and some Sheepshead.
Yellowfin Tuna is the only game in town right now for the bluewater fleet and it’s a good one. The boats are catching their limits.
Hopefully the piers will see some action this weekend with the warmer temperatures.

The winds are SW at 12 and the water temp is 46 degrees. Sunny, nice day, small swells, breezy.
