It was reported there were Puppy Drum and Specks north of the point and Red Drum and Black Drum plus good size Speckle Trout at ramp 55.

Fishing Report:
Not much to add from yesterday other than it is colder. The air temp is 18 degrees this morning. The roads are still dangerous with ice and will remain so until we have a thaw. NC 12 was mostly covered with ice Friday afternoon. If you are stuck in the house waiting for the weather to improve and the snow to melt it is a good time to clean and take stock of those tackle boxes.

The winds are NW at 13 and the water temp is 41 degrees. Sunny, freezing cold, small swells, windy.

10:30 a:m – the roads are really a mess. Terry said cars without 4 wheel were having a hard time getting a grip at the stop lights. Go very slow, road very slippery.

Someone sent a couple of pictures of yesterday’s storm and I thank him for that.

We have snow this morning and we are still having a blowing snow as I speak. I do not know how much has accumulated. On the north side of my house I would say 5 inches, south side 2 inches. With the high winds it is a drifting snow. The stats are all over the place this morning for the Outer banks. I have head the winds reached 60 mph.We are going to have a bitter cold next few days. I took a few pictures yesterday of the sound freezing over at the Wildlife boat ramp on bay drive in KDH.

My info tells me it is 19 degrees in KDH. Looking at one of the beach webcams there was a brave person walking on the beach this morning. Looking ahead it looks like our weather is going to be below average most of Jan.
I have had questions asking about the jetties in Buxton. The jetties were installed in the 60’s to help with the beach erosion and save the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Eventually the lighthouse had to be moved.
