In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
We have cloudy conditions with dense fog this morning. The wind has switched and the weekend is looking good for warmer weather. There were Bluefish on metal and cut bait and Sea Mullet are along most of the south beaches yesterday. Ramp 49 reported a 36 in Blue. There should be some of the same today with Sea Mullet and Bluefish on both sides of Oregon Inlet.
Dave Lusk, Capt. of Salt Minded Charters bagged a nice size turkey. My first turkey picture of the season.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported catching Rockfish, Trout, a keeper Flounder. And a Bluefish we figured got lost this morning.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Big chopper Blues and Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Blues.
Jennette’s: Blues and Sea Mullet..
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
No Report.

Offshore Boats Report:
One boat sailed out of Pirates Cove yesterday and caught Yellowfin and Blackfin.

The winds are SW at 2 and the water temp is 57 degrees. Mostly cloudy, no wind, good size swells, the surfers are out.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Despite the gusting winds and chilly weather a few people were surf fishing. Frisco beaches had big Bluefish, Black Drum Sea Mullet and some Flounder. The Point reported a 31 inch Red Drum and 2 48 in Red Drum. They also had Big Blues 20+ in. and smaller Blues.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported a few people fishing early morning and gave it up early because of weather.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Mullet and Blues.
Nags Head: Chopper Blues and releasing a lot of Trout.
Jennette’s: Bluefish.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet and Blues.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Weather hindrance.

Offshore Boats Report:
The fleet stayed tied to the Docks.

The winds are N at 15 and the water temp is 57 degrees. Raining windy, rough messy swells.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Not much to report from the surf. A large Drum at the Cape and a large Bluefish in Frisco. North of the inlet there were some Sea Mullet and Trout reported. The Ocean is worse today than yesterday. Fishing the Little Bridge and the wild life Pier across from Pirates Cove might be your best bet. And don’t forget there is also a gazebo on the causeway that is fisherable.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout, Stripers and a 5 lb Black Drum caught yesterday.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Bluefish.
Nags Head: Bluefish and Sea Mullet
Jennette’s: Bluefish, Sea Mullet and Spot.
Outer Banks: Spot, Sea Mullet and Bluefish.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
The weather is not cooperating.

Offshore Boats Report:
Despite not having the best conditions the offshore charters had some good catches. Blackfin Tuna, Yellowfin, few Mahi, a citation Wahoo, and a Blue Marlin and Mako releases.

The winds are NE at 18 and the water temp is 57 degrees. Scattered showers, windy, rough Ocean.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Sunday began with some heavy rains but enough clearing for a few fish to be caught. Big Bluefish were reported up to 14 lbs, a couple of big Drum and Sharks. Also some Puppy Drum and Sea Mullet on the Buxton beaches. There were a few Puppy Drum reported on this side of the bridge this weekend and that’s definitely good news. Caroline Blowe caught and released a large Black Drum at the Inlet. Regulation size for a Black Drum is 14”-25” and a person can keep one/day over 25”.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Trout, Stripers, a keeper Black Drum and a keeper Flounder this very foggy morning.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Blues, Puppy Drum and Trout.
Nags Head: Slow.
Jennette’s: Tailor Blues.
Outer Banks: 24” Black Drum, Puppy Drum and Sea Mullet.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
No report.

Offshore Boats Report:
It was a bumpy ride for the fleet but they brought in a fair amount of Yellowfin, Blackfin and Mahi. There was also a citation 118# Big-eye caught. Leonard McNulty sent word he had a good weekend catching 3 big-eyes, Yellowfin and some gaffers.

The winds are NE at 8 and the water temp is 53 degrees. Cloudy, choppy Ocean.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
Morning anglers caught some Red Drum and big Bluefish at the Cape. Good numbers of Shark, Skate and Rays were caught the rest of the day. There were scattered Sea Mullet on the beaches. Kendall Pierce caught her first Trout yesterday. Can’t keep em but it is fun to catchum.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported small Trout and small Puppies.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Trout, Sea Mullet, Bluefish and a keeper Drum. There was a Sea Mullet blitz yesterday at the pier. Mark Evanoff said he was catching double headers with squid as bait and caught 50 lbs of Sea Mullet. The pier told me one person caught 152 Sea Mullet.
Nags Head: Slow.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet and Bluefish.
Outer Banks: Bluefish.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Near shore boats decked Albacore and good amount of Bluefish. The Headboat caught Sea Mullet and Bluefish.

Offshore Boats Report:
The fleet has made it out for 6 straight days. That must be some kind of a record. Just kidding. It tells me the season is truly here. There were fantastic catches of Tuna yesterday with one boat catching a grand slam with Yellowfin, Blackfin and Bigeye. There also was an impressive amount of Dolphin with some gaffers and some Wahoo as well.

The winds are NE at 4 and the water temp is 52 degrees. Rain, heavy fog, calm winds.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report
We have had a beautiful week with no rain and warm temperatures. There have been Sea Mullet, Bluefish and Puppies reported on the beaches in Buxton and Frisco. If you are a Red Drum fisherman you have been a happy angler this season. There was another good Drum bite reported at point.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Spot, some Trout and Shad.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Bluesfish.
Nags Head: Sea Mullet and Bluefish.
Jennette’s: Sea Mullet and Spot.
Outer Banks: Sea Mullet and Croaker.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
No report.

Offshore Boats Report:
The month of May really has started with a bang for the bluewater anglers. The Blackfin were plentiful yesterday and the Mahi bite was over the top with lots of gaffers. There was also a Wahoo caught and 2 Sailfish releases.

The winds are SW at 13 and the water temp is 52 degrees. Sunny, flat Ocean, breezy.

In Summary:

Surf Fishing Report:
There were Sea Mullet, slot Puppy Drum and Bluefish caught at the Point. Some Red Drum were caught and released. Sea Mullet and Skates were scattered on the Frisco Beaches. There have been some nice size Bluefish caught at Oregon Inlet and Patrick Stage caught a whopper using a popper. I love it when people tell me their bait of choice.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Puppy Drum, Spot, some Trout, the regular mix.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Several Blues and Trout
Nags Head: A few small Blues and Shad.
Jennette’s: Skates and Rays.
Outer Banks: A Sea Mullet and Skate. All the Piers are slow this morning.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore caught plenty Bluefish.

Offshore Boats Report:
The Offshore anglers had an astronomical day catching Mahi with some gaffers. There were some Blackfin and Yellowfin also.

The winds are SW at 17 and the water temp is 51 degrees. Sunny, nice day, flat Ocean, breezy.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
It is a beautiful day on this sand bar. I am so ready for this. I have started using my summer format this morning. Quick and to the point.
A big Drum bite at Cape Point with 30-40 releases and plenty Sharks and Skate. Sea Mullet and Blow toads from ramp 43 to ramp 49.

Sound Fishing Report:
The Little Bridge on the Nags Head/Manteo causeway reported Stripers, Trout and Spot.

Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Early morning Bluefish bite.
Nags Head: Bluefish and Shad.
Jennette’s: A good run of Bluefish this morning with some Puffers.
Outer Banks: Lots of Bluefish.

Inshore Boats/nearshore Report:
Nearshore boats filled their coolers with Bluefish. Miss Oregon Inlet is now making her daily trips and caught great catches of Sea Mullet Yesterday.

Offshore Boats Report:
The offshore fleet Yellowfin, Mahi and gaffers.

The winds are SW at 15 and the water temp is 53 degrees. Sunny, breezy, flat Ocean.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
Blow toads were reported in Avon. There Sea Mullet and Blow toads in Buxton and Sea Mullet, Bluefish and some citation Drum at the Point. Bluefish were caught with bait and metal.
The annual Ocracoke fishing tournament is happening the end of the week. Ashley Bahen with the Queen Mackerels is thinking it might be good things to come with catching a citation Red Drum early in the week.
The Little Bridge is catching Trout and small Puppy Drum this morning. Caught a bucket of nice Spot yesterday late afternoon. It is a little early for that but it has already happen twice at the bridge.
Pier Fishing Report:
Avalon: Sea Mullet and a Trout.
Nags Head: Stripers and 2 over 20 in.
Jennette’s: Bluefish and Rays.
Outer Banks: Slow.
The Yellowfin bite continues to be good for the bluewater anglers with a few Blackfin and Dolphin. There was also a citation Wahoo decked.

The winds are SW at 11 and the water temp is 55 degrees. Sunny, warm day, flat Ocean.

In Summary:

Fishing Report:
It turned out to be a slow day yesterday. A few scattered Sea Mullet on the south beaches and some Bluefish at ramp 48. The piers were slow and this morning there is nothing much to talk about. There are some Skate and Puffers at Jennette’s. A Striper and Sea Mullet at Avalon. 2 nice size Blues at Nags Head Pier and Shad. OBX a Flounder, Spade fish and lots of skate. The Little Bridge is having some action catching Trout, Stripers and Shad. The only real good news this morning it was a good day on the water for the boats. They returned to the docks with good catches of Yellowfin and some Blackfin and Mahi.

The winds are W at 9 and the water temp is 55 degrees. Sunny, flat and glassy ocean.
